Founded in 1864 by Phillip Hummel, the company has become one of the largest and most modern companies in the area. The business was located in downtown Versailles originally. At Hummel’s death, his son Frank inherited.
The architect of the transition of the Napolitano family business from a retail monument shop to its modern manifestation is Emanuel “Nele” Napolitano. He is the grandson of Emmanuel, a sculptor working in Italy in the late 19th century, and the son of Peter, the artistic and creative force behind Napolitano Monuments in the early 20th century.

Paul Bussert, owner of Granite Artisans LLC, came to Cleveland in 1985 and was introduced to the stone industry. He worked for Calicchia Stone Industries in all phases of the industry and was in charge of fabrication until they closed in 1994. Paul then opened Granite Fabricators. During the real estate crash, they went through many challenging times and Paul decided to close Granite Fabricators. In 2010, Granite Artisans was opened.
